It is understandable as it takes years of experience with a hardware to really maximise performance, but even so, Ubisoft are saying that their current launch line-up won’t suffer a drop in quality.

When asked by CVG if the transition to the next generation of consoles would be an issue for the company, Ubisoft’s executive director Alain Corre said it won’t be. While he acknowledged that previous launch releases have been rushed, he said that this time it won’t be a problem as developers were able to get their hands on both Microsoft and Sony’s hardware early.

Corre went on to concede that the games will, of course, be better in the future but said that games like Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and Watch Dogs are looking “very good”.

While it is not clear if the next generation version of the games will actually be better as a whole or just feature better graphics remains to be seen. Corre says that the they will take “immersion” to the next level with the new consoles, but fails to specify exactly how the games are using new features like Kinect 2.0 or the cloud to enhance the actual gameplay.

Ubisoft are clearly confident in the next generation of consoles and want to make better games than the ones that are out on the market now. It just isn’t clear if they are talking about really using the consoles to enhance an experience or just the polygon count.

The PlayStation 4 releases November 15, 2013, and the Xbox One on November 22nd 2013.
