Ubisoft states that the new in-game manuals will offer the player “easier and more intuitive access to game information” while providing them with “a more robust manual”.
Ubisoft claims that producing one ton of paper used in its game manuals wastes approximately two tons of wood from 13 trees, containing a net energy of 28 million BTU’s, greenhouse gases adding up to over 6,000 lbs of CO2, and wastewater of about 15,000 gallons. Ubisoft has partnered itself with Technimark, Inc. releasing “the industry’s most environmentally responsible DVD case” for its future PC titles in North America, begining with Splinter Cell Conviction for PC on April 30.
President of Ubisoft North America, Laurent Detoc, stated that “Ubisoft is often recognized for making great games, but it’s a special privilege to be the industry leader at saving trees”.
