In case you missed it, we’ve gathered all of the new game announcements from the Assassin’s Creed Showcase in one handy place. Whether you’re looking for more news on Mirage or want to hear more about the other games coming down the line, you can check out the rundown here.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Ubisoft Bordeaux’s Narrative Director Sarah Beaulieu was on hand to discuss Mirage during the Assassin’s Creed Showcase. She confirmed that Mirage would be going back to the “roots” of Assassin’s Creed as part of a nod to its 15th anniversary.
That means the upcoming Mirage will be heading back to the “action-adventure, narrative-driven game” players likely remember from the beginning of the series. Instead of focusing on stealth, parkour and assassinations, Mirage will feel more like the start of the franchise as with the original game.
Mirage will star a young Basim, as the game itself is set ahead of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The prequel will follow Basim’s growth from street thief to master assassin.
Players will be able to embody Basim as he makes his way through the sprawling, dense city of Baghdad. Basim’s mentor Roshan will also play an important role in the story, who’s voiced by the immediately recognizable, Emmy-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is currently available to preorder. If you do so now, you’ll get the exclusive 40 Thieves side quest. There’s also a collector’s version to purchase, which will come with the following goodies:

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Last Chapter
Ubisoft Montreal’s Game Director Gareth Glover revealed Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Last Chapter. It’s a free update that will debut in a few months and act as the final bit of content to be released for the installment. Protagonist Eivor will reunite with certain characters, including some important ones from throughout history. The Last Chapter is planned to become available this year, so there’s plenty to play still before 2023, when Mirage drops.
Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade
Creative director of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and producer of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Marc-Alexis Côté joined the Showcase to discuss a series of announcements for Assassin’s Creed as a whole following the initial set of Mirage details and The Last Chapter’s debut.
Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade (not the final title) is a new title set in ancient China. For the first time in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, it will allow you to create your own character. According to Côté, you’ll get to do things like “parkour atop the Great Wall of China” as well as sneak through sprawling cities and engage in combat along the way. This mobile-only title is in development and will debut in 2023.
On the topic of mobile games, while discussing the new Assassin’s Creed series coming to Netflix, Côté confirmed there is another new mobile game in development for Netflix’s gaming platform.
Assassin’s Creed Codename Red
Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will be the next premium flagship title in the Assassin’s Creed franchise following Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It will be set in feudal Japan and is the “future” of the series. Developed by Ubisoft Quebec, it will be designed under the creative direction of Jonathan Dumont. It will allow players to live out their own “very powerful shinobi fantasy.” The game is “on the horizon” and has no projected release date.
Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe
The news didn’t stop there. The veteran team behind Assassin’s Creed Valhalla at Ubisoft Montreal is also at work on a new flagship title with a team led by creative director Clint Hocking: Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe. It’s a “very different” type of Assassin’s Creed game that appears to be, at least from the teaser trailer, about witchcraft or perhaps the Salem Witch Trials. Scant details were offered, only that it also is on the horizon for release in the near future.
Assassin’s Creed Infinity
Finally, Assassin’s Creed Infinity, formerly teased as Project Infinity, had a little time to shine during the Showcase. It isn’t a game, but a “single entry point” for fans coming in the future. It will act as a hub for each of the Assassin’s Creed experiences, as well as players, who will be able to interact with each other in terms of multiplayer—though there’s no detailed information on what type. The team is currently “investigating” how it will bring standalone multiplayer experiences back to players while being connected to the Infinity Hub.
There’s a varied future in store for Assassin’s Creed fans looking for new titles. We’ll likely have additional information about Assassin’s Creed Mirage in the weeks to come, but as for the rest of this crop of games, it will likely be some time before new details emerge.
