The rumor didn’t come the way of some random internet user, though. Actors E Gaffney and Alex Martin recently shared images of a Ubisoft motion capture session on Instagram, where it is obviously the company due to the Ubi logo on the suits, and then another image with a clapperboard listing Marvel as the production. While this would indicate Ubisoft was working on a Marvel game, the theory that it is a new Blade game is because the said clapperboard mentions “B. Tariq” as director. As many fans may know, Tariq is working on the new Blade MCU movie, which is currently set to release in November 2023.

While this rumor is exciting and seems to come from a reliable source, the Ubisoft Blade game rumors have been officially denied by the company. The company specifically said it was “sorry to slice up the rumors,” but it wasn’t making a Blade game. The company did also express interest in the upcoming film, but if nothing else, this tweet makes the whole situation more of a headscratcher.
Notably, Ubisoft does not deny making a Marvel game, just that it is related to Blade. There’s not much else that could explain the recent Ubisoft mocap images other than it was working on a Marvel game, but then the tease of B. Tariq becomes even more questionable.
This denial does make it a more confusing situation, but given Ubisoft does not deny a Marvel game, it would perhaps be best to ignore the potential Blade reference and focus on that part. In general, the denial of such a rumor is odd, as EA hasn’t even commented on the Black Panther rumor yet, and there are always plenty of false rumors. Perhaps this was because the post would seemingly imply it was a video game tie-in instead of a standalone project, and the former is not a particularly well-received genre. Such a rumor could prove damaging for Marvel and Ubisoft, so perhaps that’s why Ubi took the time to comment. It does remain to be seen what any of this really means, but fans will likely have to wait for some time.
Ubisoft is reportedly not working on a new Blade game.
