Assassin’s Creed was originally released in 2007, beginning the epic story of the Assassins with the character of Altair. The game has, as many players will testify, become a classic among Ubisoft’s body of work. And, though the title itself isn’t yet two decades old, fans are hungry for a fresh recreation of Altair’s epic story. Unfortunately, in the wake of the Ubisoft Forward Event, it has become clear that the gaming giant is currently unprepared to offer such a title.

Though Ubisoft conjured one of the most influential Assassins in Alair, it seems that they do not feel the need to return to the title that introduced him, and the Assassin’s Creed itself, to players. While many fans may be frustrated to hear that a new version of Assassin’s Creed is not in the works, it can’t be said that Ubisoft isn’t striving to provide players with exciting future content.

Indeed, many gamers have noticed that the franchise seems to be returning to its roots with Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Players will also be able to get their hands multiple projects for mobile devices, as well as a dedicated return to Assassin’s Creed multiplayer with Invictus. While fans would have been thrilled to also see a stunning reconstruction of Altair’s environment included in the Ubisoft announcements, gamers can certainly hope that the upcoming content will restore a level of uniformity to the RPGs that many have come to know and love.

In fact, players will likely have more access to AC content than ever before. Now that Assassin’s Creed Infinity will store modern story elements, players will be able to focus on historical campaigns with the ability to return to the modern tale of the Assassins and the Animus whenever they see fit. Though future success in the franchise cannot be guaranteed, gamers will have to trust that Ubisoft is creating content that will not only advance the ongoing story, but will give players more classic experiences in a unique gameplay environment.
