The gameplay video (visible above) featured two teams of five players — one a group of hostage-takers, the other SWAT officers — holding a single hostage, and reinforcing a home against the lawmen preparing to infiltrate it. The developers offer no further explanation of specific weapons, booby traps or secondary abilities, but the footage speaks for itself. The criminals may work to reinforce, barricade, or defend whatever aspects of the home they wish, doing whatever it takes to keep the opposing side from freeing the hostage (in this case, an emotionally distraught woman)....

Since the release of Assassin’s Creed 2, Ubisoft has successfully launched a new Assassin’s Creed game every year, almost to the day. When this new Assassin’s Creed launches however, it will be the first installment since 2009 that will feature a new protagonist, moving the series away from the popular Florence assassin, Ezio Auditore, whose in-game story ended in Revelations and whose life came to a peaceful end in the short film Embers....

Assassin’s Creed Infinity has long been rumored and is supposedly going to represent the future of the franchise, but Ubisoft has not been very clear on just what it is. Although at one time Splinter Cell was often placed right next to Metal Gear Solid in terms of spectacular action stealth gameplay, the series has since fallen from the high position it once enjoyed. Splinter Cell Blacklist is still the last mainline entry released all the way back in 2013 at the end of the PS3/360 era of games. Despite constant outcry and support from fans for a new adventure starring Sam Fisher year after year, Ubisoft remains tight lipped on the status of the franchise....

According to AL.com, University of Alabama trustees unanimously approved a six-year, $6 million contract extension for Haase on Friday. The story also promises to tell the final chapter of ‘The Kenway Saga’. With the two games being released in back-to-back months, it turns out that some fans feel that the release of Assassin’s Creed titles within such short notice counts as overkill....

The newest DLC, Myths of the Eastern Realm, released recently and took a vastly different approach. The DLC focuses on Chinese mythology instead of Greek mythology and lets players control a brand new hero named Ku. Myths of the Eastern Realm seems to correct the last DLC’s errors as well as add new and exciting gameplay to Immortals Fenyx Rising. In an interview with Game Rant, Ubisoft discussed the details of the newest DLC....

The majority of franchises under Ubisoft have clear identities. The Assassin’s Creed franchise has brought players across history to combat the Templars, the Far Cry series has given players open-world sandboxes to cause as much mayhem as they can, and the Tom Clancy brand has encompassed many special ops titles. While there have been variations in these specific titles with the new RPG approach for Assassin’s Creed and the direction that Ghost Recon has gone, these series still maintain a semblance of similarity....

Not much is known about 1666: Amsterdam, but the fact that Desilets was willing to drop his lawsuit in exchange for 1666’s rights says alot about the game’s potential, or at least the potential he thinks it has. Desilets had previously been developing 1666: Amsterdam under the THQ banner before the studio went under, and Ubisoft seems to have done nothing with it since acquiring the IP in 2012....
